An example of our procedures for prong repair
Ladies Sapphire & Diamond ring in need of prong work
It needs a full prong as well as the other 3 prongs rebuilt on the Sapphire
We remove the Sapphire and "fire coat" the ring to protect the Diamonds from the heat needed for the prong work
We use a piece of 14k yellow gold wire to replace the missing prong
The yellow gold wire is soldered onto the mounting
The prong is then trimmed and a seat cut for the Sapphire to fit
The Sapphire is reset into the mounting and "fire coated" to protect it from further heating
The remaining prongs are rebuilt
The prongs are then formed and burnished to fit perfectly onto the Sapphire
The ring is cleaned, polished and inspected and is then ready for customer pick up
